As we invite Goddess Durga Devi and plan to begin the heavenly ‘Navaratri’, a length of time of nine days amid which Mata Durga Devi is revered in Her nine Avatars, we are happy to impart to you an extremely unique post devoted to everybody in this merry season. In this post, Mata Durga Devi is portrayed as a young lady youngster who takes thoroughly enjoy riding her different “vahan, for example, the Bull, the Donkey, and others, and is seen favoring everybody with learning, flourishing and peace.

The holy ‘Navaratri’ begins with the worship of Mata Durga in Her “Shailputri” avatar. Mata Shailputri holds a ‘Trishul’, a weapon, a lotus, and she rides on bull, with an effervescent smile on her face. She is adored by all her devotees, just to see her happy demeanour that brings joy to our lives!
On the second day of holy Navaratri, Mata Durga Devi is worshipped in Her ‘Brahmacharini’ avatar. She personifies love and loyalty. She is also called ‘Uma’ and ‘Tapacharini’ by her loving devotees, and is known to bless them with knowledge and wisdom. A ‘Brahmacharin’ by nature is pious, and She displays such a character in this avatar, for all us to see the glory in Her divinity.
Mata Durga Devi is worshipped in Her ‘Chandraghanta’ avatar on the third day of holy ‘Navaratri’, and is known to be very bright and charming. ‘Chandra’ means supreme bliss, while ‘ghanta’ means knowledge, thereby, Mata Chandraghanta is known to bless Her devotees with peace and serenity similar to cool breeze in a moon-lit night. She rides on a tiger that feels loved in Her compassionate company.
On the fourth day of holy ‘Navaratri’, Mata Durga Devi is celebrated and worshipped in Her ‘Kushmanda’ avatar. In this avatar, She shines brightly with a laughing face as the Sun; She controls the entire Solar system; She holds a rosary and a lotus, and She rides on Lion. The brightness that emanates from her inspires the world to stay positive, express positivity, and keep smiling all the way!
Mata Durga Devi is worshipped in Her ‘Skanda’ avatar on the fifth day of holy ‘Navaratri’. Skanda Mata had a son with the name ‘Skandaa’ whom She holds on Her lap. It is believed that by the mercy of Skanda Mata, even an idiot becomes an ocean of knowledge. So you see, there is hope, in this world, even for a kid who is slow in conventional academic progress! But you know what? Even that same kid is verily talented in some creative potential that we, as elders, must find out and nurture.
On the sixth day of holy ‘Navaratri’, Mata Durga Devi is worshipped in Her ‘Katyayani’ avatar. It is believed that ‘Rishi Katyayan’ had observed a penance to get ‘Jaganmata’ as his daughter, and was blessed so by the ever merciful Goddess ‘Jaganmata’. Mata Katyayani holds a weapon, a lotus, and rides on Lion. As a blessed daughter, She is born to bless this world, be a warrior to fight the evil, and bring goodness in human lives, with her lovely smile and a gorgeous personality!
On the seventh day of holy ‘Navaratri’, Mata Durga Devi is worshipped in Her ‘Kalaratri’ avatar. Mata Kalaratri looks dark and black like night, hence her name ‘Kalratri’. Mata Kalaratri displays unlocked hair, while She holds a sharp Sword and delightfully blesses Her devotees with prosperity, for which, She is also known as ‘Shubhamkari’. Her ‘vahan’ is a faithful donkey, who must be so delighted to carry Ma Kalratri, on Her many missions to destroy darkness and remove ignorance!
Mata Durga Devi is worshipped in Her ‘Maha Gauri’ avatar on the eighth day of holy ‘Navaratri’. Mata Maha Gauri is clad in white and She radiates peace and compassion in Her avatar; She holds a drum and a trident and is often depicted riding a bull . She looks the cutest and the most graceful in this Avatar, on a day just before the last.

On the concluding day of holy ‘Navaratri’, that is, on the ninth day, Mata Durga Devi is worshipped in Her ‘Siddhi datri’ avatar. Mata Siddhidatri gives all the eight siddhis – Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Iishitva and Vashitva. Siddhidatri Devi is worshipped by all Gods, Rushis, Muniswaras, Siddha yogis, and all devotees. She rides on Lion, and is seated on lotus, as if She is deeply meditating for the good of all human souls on this earth.
